Wild Wild Rice!

My family and I collected truly wild rice using traditional methods from several area lakes.  Our rice was finished by a local woman who learned the art from her father using decades-old methods of slow roasting and cleaning.  We're proud to offer this delicious and nutritious food that comes from the natural waters of northwestern Wisconsin.  If you've never had true wild rice, you're in for a surprise.  We found that it is more tender, finer, more variable in color, and cooks in about one-half the time compared to domesticated wild rice that is commonly found in grocery stores and some restaurants.  One cup of dry rice yields about 4 cups of cooked rice.  I'll send you 2 cups that are ready to cook for $12.  Or buy it here at the resort: 2 cups for $7 or 1 cup for $4.   To place an order call 715-635-2390 or e-mail rbowbay@spacestar.net .

That's me with the gold and green t featuring a jumping bass and heron.

Preparing Wild Rice

A simple way to prepare our wild rice:  rinse 1 cup rice with water, place 2 and 1/2 cups chicken broth and rinsed rice in pot with 1 diced onion, bring to boil, reduce heat to simmer, keep covered about 20 minutes.  Yields about 4 cups.  Enjoy!
